LEARNING GOALS
~ We will discuss and think about what it means to be a 'Good Samaritan' like Duncan (the main character in 'Acceleration').
~ Using our own experiences and opinions we will better understand Duncan's tough situation at the beginning of the novel.
AGENDA:
1. Housekeeping - introductions, general information, website orientation, daily adgenda.
2. Introduction to the novel 'Acceleration'- read prologue and discuss the idea of the main character being a 'Good Samaritan'.
3. Read the Gospel 'The Good Samaritan' - Luke 10:25 and watch video.
Discuss:
a) what was the moral thing to do?
b) what are the possible consequences of performing such an act?
c) what would you have realistically done?
5. Activity - 'What Would You Do?' Pick THREE scenarios and answer a,b and c for each.
Scenarios will be checked and recorded tomorrow.

We will begin reading the novel 'Acceleration'. We will read to comprehend the main character, major setting and plot of the novel.
AGENDA:
1) Finish and hand in Pre-Reading activity.
2) Read chapter 1-3 as a class. Answer all of the accompanying questions using all of the space provided.
3) Chapter 1-3 questions will be checked at the beginning of classs tomorrow.

Today we are headed to the computer lab to start a Bit Strip activty. As a way of revewing what we've read I want you to start a bit strip for chapters 1 - 6. Keep in mind this is somethng we will be doing throughout the whole book. To get started go to the following link:

This week we will read quite far into the book. I will also give you as much time as I can to continue working on your Bitstrip Activity. Remember that you are only including the main ideas from the story. You must not use too many small details in your comic - the book is 34 chapters long!

This week we will finish reading the book. There are a couple of activities that I want you to complete based on chapters 22 - 29.
